The 2007 On-Line Visitor Satisfaction Pilot Program, a joint program conducted on behalf of
Nova Scotia 's Department of Tourism, Culture & Heritage, TIANS, and the Nova Scotia Vision was developed to conduct research with these three primary objectives:
- measure visitor satisfaction among fixed roof accommodations and campgrounds in Nova Scotia;
- provide an industry benchmark for comparative purposes; and
- determine what operational changes are required to improve visitor satisfaction.
A total of 1,277 online surveys were conducted with visitors to Nova Scotia. Each visiotr agreed to participate in the study by filling out a survey registration card at participating proerties. Surveys were conducted between July 25th and October 21st, 2007. A total of 44 operators agreed to take part in the Pilot Study by signing a Letter of Understanding prior to the commencement of the study. In the end, 42 operators participated in the study; two operators did not provide any visitor e-mail addresses.
A summary of the research background and methodology was presented at the 30th Tourism Summit in Halifax at the World Trade and Convention Centre on November 27, 2007. A copy of the PowerPoint presentation from the session can be viewed below:
