 A comprehensive inventory of success stories on Nova Scotia sustainable tourism has been compiled and released. The full report reflects a definition of sustainable tourism which can be summed up as:
Tourism which is viable over the long term because it results in a net benefit for the social, economic, natural and cultural environments of the area in which it takes place.
Identifying current leaders, models and innovations in sustainable tourism throughout Nova Scotia was the underlying goal of this new research project recently completed by Kim Whytock & Associates, authors of Canada’s Code of Ethics and Guidelines for Sustainable Tourism.
As success breeds success, the objective of this report is to celebrate and share current success stories, achievements and innovations with industry partners and stakeholders; and in so doing motivate future complementary success and advancement of our capacities.
The content of this report introduces an array of tourism achievements; assesses these against the eight guidelines of Canada’s national code for sustainable tourism, and profiles some of the most notable of our current achievements. Primary sections and the entire report are linked below:
